church family

Who are we?

Together with St. Mary's and Whitefriars we make up the Church of England in Rushden.

What makes St. Peter's special?

Many who come to St. Peter’s comment on the warm welcome and acceptance St. Peter's offers to both adults and children. Around 75 adults and 15 children and teenagers come to our main 10am worship each Sunday, so it doesn't take long to feel at home. Young or old, church member or casual visitor, those who are searching for truth and those who are simply curious, are all welcome to come along. At the heart of our life is our desire to grow as disciples of Jesus. The sermons are centred on the Bible, seeking to understand it and applying it to our lives. We encourage adults to join a home group so that they can study the Bible in a relaxed setting, supporting each other and enjoying each other’s company. Our children’s and young people’s groups, (which take place during our Sunday morning worship) as well as being lots of fun, seek to help the next generation to learn to follow Jesus.

Our Annual Church Away Day

The Away Day is an important part of our church life. It is a great way to get to know one another and to deepen our faith. It will also be lots of fun!
We have booked Crossways again, a Christian Conference Centre in Yardley Hastings. This is only 25 minutes away. The centre has excellent facilities. Godfrey Stone, minister at St. Peter’s some years ago, and now Archdeacon of Stoke, has agreed to lead our day. Godfrey is a gifted Bible teacher who still has a soft spot for St. Peter’s. We are fortunate to have him.
There will be some free time straight after lunch when people can go for a walk together (bring suitable clothing and footwear), play games (bring a favourite game) or simply chat over a hot drink. Anyone who comes to St. Peter’s is welcome to join us for the day. No one is too young, too old, too new, too loud or too shy. This is for the whole church family. The PCC has agreed to cover the cost of hiring Crossways. We ask each person who comes to pay in advance for their lunch (£7.00 for adults, £5.00 for children).
To book a place pick up a yellow leaflet in church, complete and tear off the reply slip and return it to Derek, David or Jean.
