Who are we?
Together with St. Mary's and Whitefriars we make up the Church of England in Rushden. What makes St. Peter's special?
Many who come to St. Peter’s comment on the warm welcome and acceptance St. Peter's offers to both adults and children. Around 75 adults and 15 children and teenagers come to our main 10am worship each Sunday, so it doesn't take long to feel at home. Young or old, church member or casual visitor, those who are searching for truth and those who are simply curious, are all welcome to come along. At the heart of our life is our desire to grow as disciples of Jesus. The sermons are centred on the Bible, seeking to understand it and applying it to our lives. We encourage adults to join a home group so that they can study the Bible in a relaxed setting, supporting each other and enjoying each other’s company. Our children’s and young people’s groups, (which take place during our Sunday morning worship) as well as being lots of fun, seek to help the next generation to learn to follow Jesus.
Changing Spaces
Our church has been serving a changing community for over 100 years and now we want to change the building to help with our ministry. We are planning to provide a separate room at the back of the church which will be fully glazed and enable parents and very young children to enjoy a more relaxed experience on Sunday morning during the service with the sound being transmitted to the room and not from the room! It will also be a comfortable meeting place for youth groups and community groups during the week.
In addition we will have much needed disabled toilet facilities and a baby changing station.A new refreshment area has been designed to provide a safe area for the serving of light refreshments by the many groups that use the church for both services and community activities.
